Orphica Piano, French Harpsichord, and Italian Harpsichord 3
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
ORPHICA PIANO - produced by Realsamples. The Orphica Piano library offers an very special little piano: Invented by Carl Leopold Röllig, the small portable piano type was exclusively built by piano maker Joseph Donal at the end of the 18th century. Produced for merely about 15 years, the Orphica remains one of the rarest pianos today – worldwide, only 30 instruments have been preserved at the very most. Inventor Röllig was reminded of the “Lyre of Orpheus”, so he chose the name accordingly for what happens to be a predecessor of today’s portable keyboard.
The instrument featured in this sample library was built around 1798 and offers a slinky, charming and lively piano tone unlike any regular piano sound – thanks to its small size featuring three octaves, it has a different main focus: Twinkle-toed, yet present with chocolate-like mids and with the typical piano-like grace, it can be great for any piano track asking for a fresh, unconsumed sound...

TONIO is modelled on the actual voice of a professional male classical singer. With a vocal register that covers both baritone and tenor Tonio has a voice that will satisfy the most demanding of compositions. Tonio has a voice that is full of unmistakable character, colour and charm. He will hit those high notes every time with perfect accuracy. Vir2 Violence Solo Violin Multidimensional Virtual Instrument
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
Created for both musical use and sound design, Violence features an unprecedented deconstruction of a solo violin recorded from numerous angles: bowed, scraped, hit, plucked, played with mallets, chopsticks, guitar picks, and wet fingers. Then the sound design was repitched, layered, and post-processed through an array of unusual tools to produce sounds unlike any found in other virtual instruments. More than eighty unique patches were designed, each with a custom set of scripted knobs and controls all conveniently organized into four categories of sounds: Drum Kits, Melodic, Pads and Sound Effects, and Tempo-Synced.
The inspiration for Violence came from the influential American composer John Cage, whose extensive experiments with prepared piano yielded new timbres and effects. What Cage did on the piano, Violence brings to the violin...

Celeste Add-On for Pianoteq Virtual Piano Instrument
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
MODARTT releases Pianoteq add-on Celeste which includes a celesta and a glockenspiel. These instruments are appreciated for their pure, bell-like sound, and are still popular today, appearing in everything from marching bands to jazz ensembles. The celesta has an appearance of an acoustic upright piano. It consists of metal plates stroke by felt hammers resembling piano hammers and there is also a sustain pedal. The timbre is very soft and subtle. The Pianoteq virtual copy is modeled after a modern five-octave German brand.
The glockenspiel is also made of metal plates but is stroke by hard metal mallets held by the musician, and is smaller and higher in pitch. The timbre is much more brilliant than the celesta. The Pianoteq virtual copy, modeled after a modern French brand, has been slightly extended to cover four octaves...

ARTICLE: Customizing The Cakewalk Tools Menu
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
Cakewalk SONAR, Guitar Tracks Pro, and SONAR Home Studio allow you to launch other software applications using the Tools menu. For example, if you have an audio editor installed on your computer (such as Sony's Sound Forge), you will see it listed in the Tools menu. This lets you edit your audio data using another program without having to close down the Cakewalk software. But the Tools menu can also be used to launch any other type of software. Programs like Sound Forge are usually detected by your computer automatically, but for other programs like utilities, you have to add them manually. This is done with a little tweaking of the Windows Registry.
Manipulating the Windows Registry can be a bit dangerous. Even small changes to the settings can cause your computer to crash, so please be very careful and follow these instructions very closely. I won’t be held responsible for any damage that may occur, so please take care. The first thing to do is make a backup copy of your Windows registry. That way you can return it back to its previous state in case you have an accident. To make a backup, follow these steps...
