Review: Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: Vol. 3
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
Back in 1992, George Lucas launched a TV series called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Unfortunately, back then I was fresh out of college, looking for a job, and didn't have time to watch TV so I never saw the show. My research tells me that it was a show about the exploits of Indy when he was a young kid and then a young man. Along the way it explained how Indy came to later be an adventure-seeking archeologist. It also interspersed a lot of historic references and was meant to be both entertaining and educational.
Later, Lucas decided to release the series on DVD, but instead of just transferring the material as-is, he compiled it into a collection of feature-length movies. Volume 1 and Volume 2 were previously released and have garnered good reviews from Indiana Jones fans. The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: Volume Three marks the completion of the collection.
Volume 3 consists of no less than 10 DVDs containing 7 feature length (approximately 90 minute) movies along with over 15 hours of special features that explore the world history and historical figures that inspired the adventures of young Indiana Jones.

Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
The appeal of do-it-yourself chemistry has always been one of the most potent recruiting tools science has to offer. From the 1930s through the 1960s, chemistry sets were among the most popular Christmas gifts, selling in the millions. But in 2008, they are a dying breed. DIY hobbyists, students, and science buffs can now turn to Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments: All Lab, No Lecture for hands-on instruction to build their own chemistry sets at home—safely and responsibly.
“The decline of chemistry sets has had nothing to do with lack of interest,” explains author Robert Bruce Thompson. “Kids are as enthusiastic as ever, but manufacturers and retailers have become more concerned about liability and lawsuits—and schools are now devoting little time and few resources to science. This guide is meant to celebrate the magic of chemistry—while taking responsible precautions to minimize or eliminate potential risks.”

Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
When J.R. Watkins mixed his first batch of natural remedies in 1868, he probably had no idea his “green” philosophy would be more relevant today than ever with the launch of J.R. Watkins Natural Apothecary and J.R. Watkins Natural Home Care.
The personal care line is designed to be nearly 100 percent natural and eliminates certain ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, glycols and phthalates. The remaining 1-to-3 percent of the formulas include mild scent additives such as mango, lemon cream and lavender.
Household products are known to be one of the largest contributors of health problems in the home, including respiratory irritation1. In the U.S., one in three people suffer from allergies, asthma, sinusitis or bronchitis2. J.R. Watkins Natural Home Care products do not contain harsh chemicals such as ammonia, chlorine and others commonly found in many household cleaners.

The Book of Wireless: A Guide to Wi-Fi
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus
Wireless networking is ubiquitous, but how many people really know how it works, or what to do when it doesn't? You plug in the router and your home network is set up, right? You walk into a coffee shop, open your computer and you're online, easy as pie. Couldn't be simpler.
Well, not exactly. To give new and current users the background, knowledge, and technical savvy that they need to successfully make the most of wireless, No Starch Press is releasing The Book of Wireless, 2nd Edition. This is the completely revised follow-up to the best-selling Book of Wi-Fi, praised by the Sacramento Bee as " a bridge over troubled waters for those who want to go wireless but don't know where to start, what to buy or how to make it all work."
"John Ross knows what confused consumers want," said No Starch Press publisher, William Pollock. "This is a book for readers frustrated with unhelpful tech support. It's for people who want to get the most out of their wireless network, without the hassle."
