Take a harrowing trip backstage for an in-depth, all-access look at Patty Schemel when Hit So Hard: The Life & Near Death Story of Drummer Patty Schemel debuts on Blu-ray™ + DVD Combo Pack and DVD June 5th from Well Go USA Entertainment. The documentary looks at the hard-hitting, openly gay drummer with Courtney Love’s band Hole, whose intense highs and lows on tour where often shaped by the addiction that consumed and almost killed her. Directed by P. David Ebersole, the film masterfully weaves Patty’s Hi-8 videos (including footage of Kurt Cobain) with contemporary interviews of Patty, her band mates (including Courtney Love, Melissa Auf der Maur and Eric Erlandson), other musicians [Roddy Bottum (Faith No More/Imperial Teen), Nina Gordon (Veruca Salt), Kate Schellenbach (Luscious Jackson/Beastie Boys), Gina Schock (The Go-Go’s), Debbi Peterson (The Bangles) and Sarah Vowell, and important figures from Patty’s life to craft a story that is as beautiful and inspirational as it is a significant cultural record. Bonus materials include audio commentary with Patty Schemel and P. David Ebersole, Patty Schemel’s private home movies, a Q&A at MoMA with the band Hole and filmmakers and the “Teen Fan Really Can Play” featurette.

A critically-acclaimed hit on the festival circuit, including its world premiere at SXSW, sold-out screenings at New Directors/New Films, and its selection as the Documentary Centerpiece at Outfest 2011: The Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Hit So Hard also opened theatrically in 10 markets across the country.

Synopsis:
Patty Schemel, the hard hitting drummer of Courtney Love’s seminal rock band Hole, is not only a master of the sticks, but a true survivor. After growing up as an outsider near Seattle she shot to stardom in the early 90’s and was engulfed by the music scene. Patty casually documented her life as a rock star – at band practice, on the road, backstage and in front of millions of people. She captured rare, precious moments behind the scenes with Hole and Kurt Cobain and the intense highs and lows of these dynamic relationships often shaped by an addiction that consumed her and almost killed her.
