  "Tommy’s Honour is the inspirational, true story of “Old” Tom and “Young” Tommy Morris, the real-life father-and-son team that revolutionized the modern game of golf. Set against the early days of the sport, the film follows the challenging and complex relationship between the two as they grow into golf legends." That is the official description for Tommy's Honour, now available on DVD and Digital from Lionsgate, which has provided NewTechReview with a NFR copy for review.Although I know very little about golf and don't have any real interest in it, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Tommy's Honour because it's not just about golf. It's more about the life and times of old Tom Morris and young Tommy Morris, both of whom were historic figures who played a pivotal part in the development of the game of golf. Based on the book of the same name, which is written by Kevin cook who is also one of the screenplay writers for the film, Tommy's Honour has several interesting themes. It covers the game of golf, of course, but it also delves into the working class conflicts of the time, the sometimes conflicted relationship between Tom and Tommy, as well as their roles in the development of the game of golf. The movie ties everything together by focusing on the life of Tommy Morris from the time he was a teenage golf caddie through his rise to fame as one of the best professional golfers of all time. The story is both inspirational and sad because like many prodigies, he endured some hard times, which also led to an untimely death at the age of 24. Golfers may find a small amount of fault with the historical accuracy of some of the film locations, the film sets, and the golf swings of the actors, but these things are not enough to distract from the story. As a DVD release, there's not much to say about the technical aspects. The video is clean and clear, presenting the environments, costumes and sets in nice detail. The audio is also well-done with clear dialogue, but as expected with this type of film, there's not an inordinate amount of use of the surround channels. There is one bonus feature provided entitled Far and Sure, which is a featurette showing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Tommy's Honour with host Jordan Spieth. Tommy's Honour presents the true and inspirational story of the life and times of old Tom Morris and young Tommy Morris both of whom played an important part in the development of the game of golf. It does this in an engaging and compelling way as to make this film an interesting viewing experience for both regular movie goers and golf aficionados alike.
