Etón Corporation, a leading creator of high-performance, green-powered consumer products, announces the availability of Rukus Solar, a portable Bluetooth sound system with solar panel. Featuring the first blend of three key technologies - Bluetooth, enhanced monocrystal solar panel and an E Ink display - Rukus Solar allows for wireless music streaming and maximum portability to keep the music going all day.
With the ability to stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device, Rukus Solar offers the flexibility to play and charge most mobile devices all day long. It has two full-range speaker drivers, delivering booming lows and crystal-clear highs. The embedded 40 square-inch high-efficiency solar panel harvests the sun’s energy for power (six hours in direct sunlight for a full charge) or Rukus Solar can be charged via the AC adapter, offering two distinct ways to recharge the internal lithium battery. Rukus Solar also features an integrated USB port that can charge mobile devices when on the go.
The integrated E Ink SURF segmented display provides instant, easy-to-read information including Bluetooth connectivity, solar charge indicator and battery strength. Unlike traditional LCD screens which require constant energy to retain an image, the bi-stability of E Ink enables information to be displayed without draining the battery. Easily read in direct sunlight with a 180-degree viewing angle, E Ink display is extremely low-power and virtually indestructible, complimentary to the design of Rukus Solar and other lines in the Etón brand.
“The unique blend of Bluetooth technology and solar power truly makes Rukus Solar the only sound system that will never run of out power,” said Esmail Hozour, CEO of Etón Corporation. “With design features like an E Ink display, multiple charging options and portability, Rukus Solar will surely cause a ruckus wherever it goes, from backyard barbeques to the beach.”
“Rukus Solar provided a great opportunity for us to incorporate our low-power, easily read E Ink display to a product that functions in or outdoors,” said Sriram Peruvemba, Chief Marketing Officer of E Ink Holdings. “We look forward to continuing to find ways to incorporate our technology with uniquely designed products like Rukus Solar.”
The Rukus will also offer a non-Solar version of the product which will feature Bluetooth capability, 14 watt stereo sound and the ability to be powered via wall outlet or AA battery.
Rukus Solar ($150) and Rukus ($100) are debuting at Amazon, REI, J&R, Brookstone, Frontgate, Crutchfield, Sport Chalet and Etón’s online store (ShopEtonCorp.com). Each purchase of a Rukus or Rukus Solar will also include a three-month subscription to on-demand music service MOG. For more information about Etón and its products, visit www.etoncorp.com.
