| Xojo Announces Space Battle Gaming Code Competition | ||||||
You don’t need to have a lot of programming experience to enter. It’s designed so that even new users can get up to speed quickly. Xojo is free to use for learning and development, so no purchase is necessary to participate in the gaming competition. This game contest was first introduced at the 2015 Xojo Developer Conference, Xojo’s annual conference that draws attendees from all over the world for a 3-day event jam-packed with educational sessions and networking experiences. Xojo is offering a kickoff webinar on June 2nd that will include all of the information needed to participate, it can also be viewed on-demand after it airs. The Xojo Wars source code with instructions and sample ships are available at https://github.com/xojo/XojoWars. The winner of the contest will receive $500 USD and a Raspberry Pi Starter Kit. Xojo, Inc. recently announced its upcoming support for Raspberry Pi with Xojo 2015 Release 3, available this summer. "Xojo Wars is a coding contest implemented as an action-packed space battle game with fun retro graphics and sound effects”, commented Paul Lefebvre Xojo’s Developer Evangelist and Xojo Wars creator. “People with any level of programming skill (even those new to Xojo) can easily create code to control their space ship as it battles others to determine a champion”.
