Amazon, Best Buy Offer Pre-Orders of Norton Core - the Secure Wi-Fi RouterNorton by Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC) has announced that Norton Core, a secure Wi-Fi router, is available for pre-order purchase at Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Best Buy (NYSE: BBY). Consumers can pre-order the high-performance router, that delivers fast and secure internet throughout the home, to protect home networks and their connected personal devices from malware, viruses and hackers.

With an increasing number of connected devices in today’s homes, there is a need to protect home networks from malware and other malicious activity that could place the safety of families, and their personal information, at risk. While 62 percent of consumers globally believe connected devices are built with security in mind1, Symantec researchers identified security vulnerabilities in 50 different connected home devices2, ranging from smart thermostats to smart hubs that could make the devices easy targets for attacks.

“It’s important for consumers to protect their connected homes as hackers will always find new and sophisticated ways to target connected devices and attempt to access personal and financial information,” said Fredrik Torstensson, senior vice president, global consumer sales, Symantec. “Norton Core’s availability through Amazon and Best Buy offer an opportunity to reach millions of savvy consumers, showing people they can easily, and beautifully, incorporate security and digital safety into their connected homes.”

Amazon and Best Buy will offer Norton Core through online pre-orders for a limited time at $249.99 ($279.99 MSRP), bundled with a one-year complimentary subscription to Norton Core Security Plus that includes protection for an unlimited number of connected personal devices such as laptops, desktops, Macs, Android and iOS smartphones, tablets, and IoT/connected devices3. Norton Core is available in two color options: Titanium Gold and Granite Gray.

In addition to online availability, Norton Core will be featured as an innovative offering in select Best Buy store locations nationwide this summer. Consumers will be able to interact in select stores with touch-screen displays, and view a video to learn more about Norton Core.

Norton Core: Digital Safety in a High-Performance, Uniquely Designed Geodesic Dome

Unlike conventional routers, Norton Core was built specifically to secure and protect connected homes, fundamentally changing the concept of the Wi-Fi routers by making security the primary consideration, without sacrificing speed, coverage or reliability. Norton Core’s unique, elegant design encourages users to place it out in the open as part of their home décor, providing a strong, secure, and unobstructed Wi-Fi signal. Additional key product highlights include:

- Advanced network security: From packet inspection to data encryption to secure DNS, Norton Core will secure connected homes with state-of-the-art security and quarantine connected personal devices detected with known vulnerabilities or threats4.
- Superior wireless performance: Norton Core supports 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi and will be powered by a 1.7 GHz dual core processor, with ample memory and flash storage to ensure optimal performance for Wi-Fi and security features. Norton Core supports speeds up to 2.5 Gbps5, for fast 4K streaming and lag-free gaming.
- Simple mobile app: Users can manage and monitor their entire home network directly from their smartphone. Using the app, consumers can remotely adjust Wi-Fi settings, enable guest access and even block suspicious behavior4.
- Security Score: To help consumers manage their connected home security, Norton Core contains a feature named “Security Score.” This feature is like a “credit score” for home network security.
- Smart parental controls: Parents can set time limits for each child’s daily internet use, filter out inappropriate content, and even pause the entire home network when needed.
- Automatic updates: Norton Core protection stays current by automatically updating itself with the newest features and the latest security updates.
