Rise of the Kasai Review

"Gather ‘round all of you who would listen. I have a tale to tell… A story of warriors and kings; a saga of dark magic; a legend of high adventure. Long ago, a series of dark spells were created with the power to enslave our world. Evil magic with no purpose but that of destruction. But before these spells could be evoked, they were stolen and broken apart. Dark and powerful, these words were not easily destroyed and so were hidden about the world, branded onto the souls of innocents, cursing their minds for eternity. Men are mortal and time can be the enemy of fear. All too soon we forget how the bee will sting and the fire will burn. As time passed, these families forgot what the marks were for; dismissing the ancient warnings about these words of power… they were merely stories – tales from a long past time. But an evil sect, known only as the Kasai, knew nothing of time. And, with infinite patience, they waited… until their spells were discovered." This is the plot behind Sony Computer Entertainment’s new action, adventure game for the PlayStation 2 called Rise of the Kasai.

Stardock Announces DesktopX, DesktopX Pro 3.0

"Stardock, the world's leading developer of Windows enhancement software, announced DesktopX 3.0 and DesktopX Pro 3.0. DesktopX is the revolutionary program that first made it possible for end users to easily design their own custom Windows desktops and mini-applications and then export them for others to use. What's new about DesktopX 3.0 is that unlike previous versions, the desktop/widget development features have been separated from the end user run-time component. Now, users who simply want to make use of desktops and widgets created by others do not have to interact with the DesktopX developer environment. On the Internet, there are thousands of DesktopX objects, widgets, and desktops freely available to download. Moreover, DesktopX 3.0 Pro ($69.95) enables users to export their mini-applications as stand-alone programs called "Gadgets". These gadgets are individual .EXEs that require no other files to run on any system.

"What makes DesktopX special is that users literally design their applications on their Windows desktop," said Brad Wardell, President & CEO of Stardock Corp. "With DesktopX, users just right click to create a DesktopX object, assign an image that can be any shape or size, and can use some VB Script or JavaScript to put together the programming logic. What would take a developer days or weeks to do in a traditional 'rapid development environment' environment can be done in minutes or hours." "DesktopX Pro lets me create slick, easy to use, stand-alone programs that I can provide to my clients very quickly. It greatly decreases my development time and hence my competitiveness in the market," said Shae Petersen, founder of Dmense Solutions (Dmense.com), developer of Aimutation and Greybook.

DesktopX 3.0 enables casual users to super-charge their Windows experience by including dozens of high quality widgets and desktops. DesktopX widgets can be shown or hidden with a user-defined hot key. Ambitious developers will be able to quickly design their own slick looking programs using DesktopX Pro to give away or sell." The Germ Terminator

"Research shows that germs can remain and breed on wet toothbrushes after brushing, potentially prolonging infections such as gum disease or sore throats. And, because airborne bacteria can move from toothbrush to toothbrush (and from other sources in the bathroom), opportunistic infections such as periodontal disease and the common cold can easily be passed from one person to another when unsanitized toothbrushes are stored together. New research from the Surgeon General even points to associations between chronic oral infections and heart and lung diseases, stroke and diabetes.

Recently, Germ Terminator Corporation sponsored an independent national consumer survey on oral health habits (1,000 adults, aged 18-65). Of those surveyed, only 2.9% claimed to sanitize their toothbrush 4-6 times a week and the vast majority never do. Less than half of consumers do not change their toothbrush after being sick and the majority do not know that most toothbrushes are contaminated with germs, including E. Coli that are propelled into the air after toilet flushing. The survey also found that a striking 30.9% of adults have shared a toothbrush. "Toothbrushes that are not steam sanitized, but rinsed and shared, or stored together in a cluster, are breeding grounds for infectious, highly communicable organisms like viruses that cause the flu and common cold and bacteria that cause oral infections (like gingivitis and more serious gum diseases)," says Maria Perno Goldie, RDH, MS, former president, American Dental Hygienists' Association.

The Germ Terminator Toothbrush Sanitizer is the only toothbrush sanitizer that kills 99.9999% of those toothbrush germs using completely natural steam and dry heat. Now, with the Germ Terminator, you can have a clean, healthy toothbrush every time." Click here for more information.

The NanoBreeze® Room Air Purifier

"The NanoBreeze® Room Air Purifier from NanoTwin Technologies, Inc. uses photocatalytic nanotechnology to clean and purify the air inside your home. EPA reports that a growing body of scientific evidence indicates that the air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air. People spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. The risks to personal health are greater due to air pollution indoors than outdoors. According to EPA, "Indoor air pollution is one risk that you can do something about." The NanoBreeze Room Air Purifier is a lightweight home appliance that decomposes the harmful gases from fuel or tobacco smoke, airborne germs or allergens, odors from mildew or trash, and the fumes from plastics, finishes, perfumes and cleaners. The product oxidizes both volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and bioaerosols.

The NanoBreeze Room Air Purifier has no filters to replace or collecting plates to clean and produces no ozone. HEPA filters capture rather than oxidize airborne contaminants. Carbon filters are needed to capture gases. The filters need to be replaced, which imposes a high cost of ownership. Electronic air purifiers include ionizers and ozone generators. Ionizers charge large dust particles which either deposit on room surfaces or are collected on metal plates that need to be cleaned frequently. Ionizers do not remove gases or odors and may produce ozone. The oxidation power of ozone is not as powerful an oxidant as photocatalytic TiO2. Ozone is considered toxic and can aggravate asthma. The EPA does not recommend using ozone generators within occupied indoor spaces.

The NanoBreeze Room Air Purifier produces no eye or skin exposure hazards from ultraviolet radiation. Ultraviolet air purifiers use Germicidal type UVC radiation to kill germs by destroying their DNA. UVC radiation is hazardous to all living things. Germicidal UV air purifiers do not remove gases and can also produce ozone. The NanoBreeze Room Air Purifier uses a patented UVA light tube. The outside of the tube features a fiberglass wrapping that has been coated with a nanometer thin layer of photocatalytic TiO2, which absorbs all ultraviolet emissions from the lamp."
